If you want to disable select event on the page with the jQuery, here is an ultimate solution for that:

$("*").bind('selectstart', function(){event.returnValue = false;})
      .css('MozUserSelect', 'none')
      .css('oUserSelect', 'none')
      .css('KhtmlUserSelect', 'none')
;

To disable just some specific elements, change $(“*”) to your own query.
